Meet the Phamacist

Tremain Cooper, Pharm.D., 340B ACE

Dr. Tremain Cooper is living his dream of opening Soda City Pharmacy & Compounding, LLC. He testifies it was God’s grace and mercy to allow him to become the owner and operator of his new brick and mortar venture.

A native of Columbia, S.C., born in Richland Memorial Hospital, he was raised in the Eau Claire Community. The youngest child of his deceased parents Veronica Paige and Robert “Dawkins” Elam, who he credits for his success, Dr. Cooper was educated in Richland County Public Schools attending Denny Terrace Elementary School, Gibbes Middle School, and graduating from the historic Eau Claire High School. He attended Midlands Technical College and graduated from the University of South Carolina-Columbia School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Before opening the Soda City Pharmacy & Compounding LLC, he was the pharmacist-in-charge at the Mecklenburg County Health Department in Charlotte, N.C. and pharmacist for CVS Pharmacy in Charlotte, N.C. and the upper midlands region of South Carolina.

While at Mecklenburg County Health Department, he served on the strike team as lead pharmacist, where he was an inventory manager responsible for managing vaccine inventory for COVID-19 immunization clinics in the county. In addition, he helped develop and implement the Naloxone distribution program based on protocol for use for those who need access or do not have a prescription and was also the primary contact of the 340B Drug Discount Program.
With over 14 years of experience as an active community pharmacist in good standing, Dr. Cooper is licensed to practice pharmacy in South Carolina and North Carolina. He holds additional certifications in Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery from American Pharmacists Association Immunization Program, Delivering Medication Therapy Management from American Pharmacists Association and American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, and a CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.

In 2018, he completed the Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate program. Dr. Cooper is heavily active in the pharmacy profession where he previously served on the executive board and as president (2016-2018) for the Charlotte Medical Dental Pharmaceutical Society. Currently, he is a member of the American Pharmacists Association, National Community Pharmacists Association, South Carolina Pharmacy Association, and the Congaree Medical Dental Pharmaceutical Association.

The owner of Dr. Cooper, The Pharmacist, LLC, a 7-year patient consultation venture devoted to bridging the gap between community integrity and medication management, Dr. Cooper helped patients achieve optimal health through medication stewardship and medication therapy recommendations in ambulatory care setting for treating common ailments and diseases. Considered the voice of medication safety, his work provided access to top notch, proven evidence-based treatment strategies, methods, and education that advances medication therapy management services leading to healthy lifestyles. He successfully offered medication management and recommendations that lead to better understanding of medications to achieve optimal results.

Due to the success of his consultation business, Dr. Cooper realized that patients were not receiving the best information to achieve optimal health. To satisfy this need; in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, he committed to opening Soda City Pharmacy & Compounding, LLC, a neighborhood pharmacy in Columbia, S.C.

Understanding outside of providers, the pharmacy is often the first and last point-of-contact for patients seeking medication knowledge and direction, Soda City Pharmacy & Compounding provides customers optimal medication outcomes for lasting good health at affordable prices. Its primary focus is its community. The pharmacy offers medication therapy management services, immunizations, medication adherence options, and compounding services to its customers with the guarantee of efficient services geared toward ensuring patients receive the intended outcome of the medications they need to lead to healthy lifestyles.
A United States Army veteran, who attended basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., Dr. Cooper has also served as an active member of his community through volunteering with The Park Church Medical Mission Team, The Park Church Men’s Mission Team, South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, and in the ICU at Charlotte, N.C.’s Carolinas Medical Center-Main Campus. Dr. Cooper was nominated and selected as part of the Black Enterprise Magazine Modern Man Class of 2018.

Dr. Cooper currently resides in Columbia, S.C. and is thankful for his family’s and friend’s support and many prayers for much success!
